she/her

Hi I’m Cat! I’m 31 and currently living back in my hometown of Warrington. I’ve moved around a lot, from leaving the nest to study Film at the University of South Wales Cardiff, to taking a year out and working/travelling in New Zealand for a year.

Since getting back to the UK, I started my own freelancing business working as a digital marketing consultant and social media manager, plus starting my own online Tarot and metaphysical e-commerce business. I’ve always been a bit of an entrepreneur and I’ve recently added illustration freelancing to my resume after realising how much I loved my art hobby. My first love was watercolours before diving into the deep end of acrylic paints and eventually trying my hand at some digital illustration, which has completely reignited my love of creating from the heart and going with the flow.

Ultimate desert island discs track?

I’m a massive audiophile so this is tough, but at the moment I would probably go with Can You Run by The Steeldrivers. I love bluegrass music, I think it has some of the best storytellers in the biz and this track has one of the best narratives I’ve ever heard in a song.

Have you ever heard a song that feels like it HAD to be written about you? What was it and why?

Here by Alessia Cara – this was sent to me by my sister because apparently I’m grumpy in very big crowds of people and I like my own space. I had to admit when I heard it I very much related to what she was singing about.

If you could have created one famous painting what would it be and why?

It’s a bit harrowing, but one of my favourite paintings is The Nightmare by Henry Fuseli. I’m drawn to any kind of art that leans a bit towards the mystical or supernatural and there’s so much hidden in this painting that keeps adding more and more layers to the story. I love oil paintings but I’m useless with oil paints so I wish I could use them well enough to paint in this kind of style.

What was the last book that made you cry, or laugh out loud?

I just finished Ariadne by Jennifer Saint and that made me shed a tear. I didn’t know much about Ariadne outside of the Minotaur mythology, so it was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions.

Who would play you in the film of your life?

Someone ginger and pale. I’d like to say Jessica Chastain because I love her, or maybe Bryce Dallas Howard. Whoever it would be would have to be able to do a good northern accent!
